Jaclyn Hakes Appointed to the Board of Saratoga Builders Association
The Saratoga Builders Association Inc. Board of Directors is pleased to welcome and announce the appointment of Jaclyn Hakes to its Board.
Jaclyn S. Hakes, AICP is an Associate and Director of Planning Services at MJ Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C. Ms. Hakes has assisted communities across New York State for over 15 years in balancing land use, transportation, environmental and quality of life issues through consensus-based planning. She has extensive experience in comprehensive planning, zoning, brownfield redevelopment, resiliency planning, complete streets, public facilitation, grant writing, SEQRA and NEPA. Ms. Hakes also has municipal experience conducting technical reviews for site plans, special use permits, and subdivisions as well as implementing form-based code. Her award winning work has been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the Upstate New York Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA).
Ms. Hakes learned ‘practical knowledge’ and her ability to operate most farm equipment as a farmer’s daughter growing up on a three-generation dairy farm in Chenango County, NY. Her formal education earned her dual degrees from the Binghamton University Environmental Studies and Geography programs as well as a Masters in Regional Planning from the University at Albany. She is currently Vice Chair of the Saratoga PLAN Board and is a member of the University at Albany Department of Geography and Planning Community Advisory Board. Ms. Hakes is a former board member of the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Planning Association having served as co-chair of several Chapter and Regional conferences. Ms. Hakes is a frequent presenter at various local, state and national conferences and a regular guest speaker at the University at Albany and Skidmore College.
